Yesterday, when HKN artiste Davido announced his million dollar deal with top record company, Sony BMG,. Many people celebrated the great news with him. But controversy started when the ‘Aye’ singer said he was the ‘first African artiste’ to be signed by the company.
Though many people wrongly mentioned D’banj who is only signed to the regional company, Sony Music Africa, a quick search online revealed other African acts who had actually clinched the global deal with Sony BMG, and they include South Africa’s Nathan Ro of Lonehill Estate musical group who won Project Fame in South Africa, Tanzania’s Nakaaya Sumari, Congolese Natalie Makoma, among others.
